Learned so many things to look out for with our girls eggs! Definitely bookmarking this article for reference in the event that we have some malformed/abnormal eggs and/or yolks!
I recently hatched duck eggs, and there were some that seemed to have the water miscolored egg whites along with the dead chick, I was curious what it could be when other egg whites around the dead duckling were normal.
Thanks for doing such a thorough job of addressing strange egg issues. Most of us would have no clue what was going on. NOW, having said that, my egg shape issue isn't listed. I only have two hens in a large coop with a pretty clean dirt floor that gets dug up by me frequently. One of the hens lays eggs that have little granular bits on one end that are covered by the shell material. The egg interiors are normal, rich and very tasty. What is causing the little itty bitty brown granules on the egg end? They get fresh water and excellent nutrition. Thanks!
It sounds like calcium deposits. The example in the pic is rather extreme, but it can range from small spots here and there to quite an onslaught. Which then gets covered by the egg shell colour.
