Nice idea for controlling the heat coming from a heat lamp. Make sure the the voltage regulator is rated for the power of the light. Make sure it does not over heat

I wouldn't be all that happy using a cheap dimmer switch on a heatlamp for fear it could overheat. A brooder plate where the chicks can go away from the heat and return when they want would be much more favourable for me.
