Awesome idea to to make a separate play area, though I agree with the other reviewers that a brooder plate would be safer inside a cardboard box.
Not a bad idea having a separate "play" area. I just wonder if the feed and water are too far from the heat source when the chicks are very young. Personally, I'd be really nervous hanging a heat lamp inside cardboard.
