Dogtown Ranch

My name is Caitlin, and I live in a bizzare community in West Oakland, California.
There are about 35 of us that live on this side of the block, and we have no fences between our yards. We're all renters except for the landlady who lives here too. She directs the use of communal space. They've had a great community garden going for many years now, and a small chicken coop for a few years also. Since DH and I moved in, we've doubled the gardening space, built a patio from recycled brick, and expanded the chicken experiment (we now have 20 hens). My neighbor and I are more-or-less in charge of the chicken business, so you will likely find us here picking up ideas. We also keep bees and brew our own beer.
