Hi all,
I'm Nikki, I've been married to an amazing man for the last almost 11 years and have two wonderful monster boys that are 3 and 5. I worked in the computer industry for about 20 years and finally quit to be a stay at home Mom 5 years ago. I co-own MillerWater with my parents and I help run our business from the convenience of my home unfortunately because we lost our store in December due to the economy falling through the proverbial floor. We still have the business though so we're blessed with that.I also run a slowed down parenting community called The House Of Parents, where we discuss everything from our projects, our families and just life in general. We are also on Facebook so feel free to look us up, join, have fun if that is your thing. :)
On top of that, I homeschool our boys who are in Kindergarten and 1st grade this year. I love gardening and farming, I have a small veggie garden outside, every last cranny filled with Aero and Hydro gardens in house, and I also am breeding English Mastiffs. So yeah I try to stay as busy as possible.

Long time chicken crazed lover here. I have raised chickens since I was 12 years old with my Dad when I lived in Maine and I have always loved them. The unfortunate part is that when I moved away from Maine back in 92 I only lived in city areas that either did not allow for raising chickens or I did not have the room myself. I moved to the Reno/Sparks, NV area about 10 years ago and have been trying to talk my husband into letting me have chickens for years now but until this year I was not very successful.

I am currently in the process of building a 8X8 Coop with a brooding section for breeding and raising chicks. I am a big fan of the Heavy Breeds and I do not think my husband knows just how far my obsession reaches. *LOL* In less than 2 weeks I went from 0 to 28 chickens, poor man. I just sold off 10 of the 28 to make room for the order I just placed for 21 new chicks. I am adding Golden Laced Wyandottes and Black Australorps to my flock. Once everyone is grown and settled in I am hoping to have mostly Golden Laced Wyandottes, Silver Laced Wyandottes and Black Australorps to raise for selling, eggs and meat. Then I can start my plans to breed the perfect chicken.
Right now my adult flock consists of 6 Silver Laced Wyandotte Hens, 3 Barred Rock Hens, 4 Black Star Hens, 2 White Leghorn Hens and 3 White Crested Black Polish.
Thanks for letting me share. Hopefully I can hook up with some locals on the site and talk chicken with the rest of you lovely chicken fanciers.
Here are my girls so far:

My White Leghorns will not stand still long enough to take pictures of them. I always end up getting just a tail or a white dart across the picture.

They are still prettying up as they were picked a lot with the previous owners. :)

I currently have the floor, roof and two side walls for my Coop built and should be finishing it up this week. I will post pictures once it is done. We ended up having to buy new from Home Depot as everyone stopped posting free or cheap lumber on Craig's once we got ready to build the coop. Totally breaks my heart when there is so much stuff out there to recycle but the girls need shelter and lots of nests. :D
Thanks for looking, if you want to get a hold of me about possible trades/barters, etc. send me a PM.
