I have eggs from 2 different pens, and want to keep the chicks separated during and after hatching so I can band them accordingly. I bought a couple of small baskets with holes in the sides, padded shelf lining, and an aluminum disposable grille topper...



First step is to cut the bottoms out of the baskets. Small scissors work great for this...


Use scissors to cut the aluminum grille topper just a little larger than the bottom of the baskets. Fold the edges up (table edge works great) to fit bottom of baskets, attach with small zip ties, and trim excess off...





Cut a couple of pieces of shelf lining to fit the bottom, and tuck edges between the bottom of basket and "screen"...



Sitting in my refrigerbator, they seem like they'll work perfectly for hatching. The hygrometer on the left always reads 1% higher than the right one, and the temps are a perfect match...
