Introduction to Raising Turkeys

Nice fast read on taking care of turkey poults.

More details and pictures would make the article better
Great Article! Thanks!
I too have had turkeys for just 3 years...love em to pieces! :), ate some and loved them that way too! ;)
I have let my hens raise some poults this spring (no 'me' intervention)....I will update on how this goes. But just lets say: so far it's been a crazy trip and lost more than I would have if I had incubated them...
That said: i keep my turkeys in a bus! Far from orthodox raising methods, lol. [it's cleaned out regularly (approx. once a week) and lots of ventilation!] Some of the ones that didn't make it, simply left the bus and would NOT be contained therin!
I have a 'turkey paddock' in the works...update on that when time allows too.
BTW: totally into Heritage breeds!! I have Beltsville Whites, Chanteclers, northern Bobwhites, Rocky Mountain Horses
EVERY BIT HELPS. NICE ARTICLE..
WE HAD A SURPRISE WHEN WE ORDERED OUR CHICKS FROM ON-LINE.
TURNS OUT WE HAD A :)

Informative and easy reading. I did not know that turkeys are hatched dumb, and chickens are smart. I would have starved my baby Turks!
Good start to an article. A little more description & in-depth coverage of key points would have been better. A nice read though.
Didn't learn much.
