My coop is 4 x 8 and built off the ground. The chickens will have room underneath to get out of the sun and rain. The posts are pressure treated but covered on the inside with cedar fence boards. The chickens wont come into contact with the pressure treated wood. There will be two more doors on the back for access and cleaning. The hole on the left side is for the future laying boxes. The rectangle above the laying boxes is a screened opening that can be closed in the winter. The coop is vented under the gables on each end. There will also be screened openings between each rafter.
Currently I have 12 chickens; Lavender Ameraucana and Olive Eggers. I made a sign for the coop seems that is a requirement.
This is the back of the coop and the "porch" where the chickens can access the yard. I didn't come straight out of the door because of a tree that is in the way. You can also see the two back doors that give me full access to the coop for cleaning. Painting the coop is still in progress.
Finally some chickens. They are 3 weeks old and very rough looking.
