Pallet CoopMagedon

I love seeing coops made from pallets. This one was simple and not very expensive. And I like the idea of it being more open during the summer.
Great article about the construction of this coop. Love the photos and the descriptions of what was done at each step. Enjoyed the humor, and of course Gus. Great job.
Thank you for posting this step by step! It is a great coop for chickens! And I love the price.
You made it look very do-able. Inspired me to give it a try.
This is a very nice pallet coop!

A schematic or build plans would help others make a coop like this one.

I didn't have a build plan, just worked with what I had and did the best I could. But it is 4'×4'×4'....basically a box with one wall a little taller to make ventilation.
Great work! It does look like it could use a bit more ventilation from what I can see, but this is a solid coop build that won't break the bank!

Perhaps you can't see it all in the pictures I posted but there is hardware cloth covered openings at the top on all 4 sides, also since it is in a secure run there is never a cover on the pop door. And I often leave the fold down front down so it is more of an open air coop at least until winter, then the run will be covered with clear heavy weather proofing plastic to cut out drafts, and so with the feathers and the venting and the pop door open they should have good ventilation.....but if need be I can take part of the latch board in front off. I will be keeping a close watch with this being the first year with this coop.
Useful article for anyone in need of a small, cheap coop.

Thanks for the review. I wanted to share my experience because with money tight now days and people opting for those prefab cracker boxes I thought this showed you can build a substantial coop for a little of nothing and definitely for less that those prefabs.
