1 (12-oz.) can evaporated milk
3 c. sugar
1 (16-oz.) jar peanut butter
2 tsp. butter
In a medium size sauce pan heat evaporated milk and sugar bringing the mixture to a rolling boil and stirring constantly. (Have a cold cup of water on hand to test cooking stage.) Sugar and milk will turn a tan color. Bring to softball stage. (I use a cup of cold water and drip some of the mixture into it to check if it forms a small ball.) At soft ball stage mixture is ready for the peanut butter, add almost all of it to the cream and sugar mixture. Stir 'til melted, pour into buttered dish, then let cool and cut .
