I've never heard of squirrels eating eggs or that would kill baby chicks. Wish this article would say where those are as that's horrible! These here are docile and the chickens eat underneath wild bird feeders right with them.

They do spread lice and mites though, so that's our concern. We keep the coop DE'd so don't have issues.

I always had a lot of trees in my area (including the chicken pen,) drawing a lot of squirrels in the run and everywhere else. They are a predator of food managing to grab some pellets here and there but are scared of the hens and don't like to bother with the 6 week old chicks. Otherwise, perfect article!
