I have been raising chicks for a long time normally having 60 to 100 chicks at a time. I had bought a brooder a few years ago but sadly even the three hundred dollor brooders brake. So i was using a laundry basket for a brooder. As you can probably guess it wasnt a very good plan. The chicks if to small could slip out the holes and when they got any kind of feathers they would fly out. Finally i had had enough. I build the first of many home made brooders that year. It ended up to short and to easy for the chicks to push the top up. The next was far to big for them and they would get to cold. I can go one and one about my trials and erors but ill skip most of those. Then one day i sold and lizard who i was keeping in a home made cage. I was wondering what in the world to do with the cage and then it hit me! What if i could use this for my brooder? Well i tried it! And let me tell you it is the best brooder I have EVER EVER had better then even store bought ones. It is a 55inch long 24 inch wide 19 inch tall master peice if i do say so myself. It houses up to 200 chicks easily. It has three plexi glass walls and a wood back wall. The frame is just 1 by 2s with some simple latches. It doesnt matter the time of the year it hold the wormth perfectly for my sweet little babies!
