We decided to build a new chicken coop!
-Our other one was falling apart
Starting with the nest, we assembled the large box using.
-Pressure treated plywood.
-Nails.
We then cut the back of the box, so we could gather eggs on the outside. Put a large wooden divider (resulting in two nests). And then created a backwards T with other wood so they could get inside the nest
Simply hinged another piece of wood (allowing the lid to raise up), drilled the side of the box shape and put a lock on it.

The Roof was fairly easy,
-Nails
-Hardware cloth (Chicken fencing)
-Plastic roof panels.
We also used these Grip-Rite plastic covers to ensure the nails didn't pull out of the wood, and decided to use our own nails because we didn't want to nail them in, it was way faster to screw them in.
Screwed the Panels on the sides and fastened them to the frame of the coop, even tho they are more expensive than hardware cloth, we used them because It keeps the girls dry.
Hardware cloth was on the other half of the coop providing them with a preference of sun or shade.
The Roost
-Pressure treated wood
-Nails
They all crowd on the top and they love it! We also wanted the nesting box under the roof, and we couldn't do that with a bar all the way across (Poop landing on the nesting box, and that would be a mess!).
The Sides of the coop
-On the half side of the coop we put pressure treated fencing material on all three walls where the nesting box is and the roost.
We've always used the dog waterer for the hens. It help reduce mess everywhere. Just buy the dog waterer hook it on the hose, and show the hens, and they should be drinking in no time!
So, their is the finale of our new coop! (And obviously we have 8ft boards on all 4 sides as the border.)
