Thought this one's respitary problems were over.. coughing stopped, breathing improved (after antibiotics, peri peri, garlic, ginger and multi vitamins)... but now it opens its beak in a strange way, puts its tongue out etc... got me worried. Any ideas? Last time these symptoms hit my chickens I lost a whole lot pretty quick before I could check it.
I had a Chicken that did the same thing before I started using food grade diatamais earth for worming.
I found with some research that the Chicken had Throat worms that cause the bird to stick its tongue out almost like it was panting.
I used a old farmers cure and got some tobacco and simmered it in water to make like a syrup.
When it cooled I had my Daughter hold the Chicken and I forced the beak open and slowly poured 1 tablespoon down its throat and after a few hours did this again after each dose I gave it a minute or two and held the bird by its feet head down to allow the bird to cough up the worms and ex spell them.
After 24 to 36 hours the Chicken acted normal.
After giving the Chicken this Tobacco juice it almost acted like it was going to die because of the worms pulling loose and dieing.
Nicotine is the best and natural Insecticide there is and ac ts fast and will not harm the bird.
I am not saying that for 100% that is what is wrong with your Turkey but that is what it sounds like I don't think what you have done so far would have done any thing to kill the worms if that is whats the problem.
If this fixes your Turkeys problem use food grade diatamais earth in there feed every month or so and spreed it on the ground and dust them with it this will kill the worms in the ground and also the parasites on the birds dont Inhale the dust its not good for the airways.
This diatamais earth will not harm any of your animals I use it in my Dogs Food as well.
104 °F is also very Hot for any Birds Supply them with plenty of shade and hose them down as often as needed I did this for my Birds when it got near 100 F and supplied them with a Kiddy pool with fresh cool water keeping it cool and even taught them to get into it.
Between these two susgestions I hope I was of help.
