Just made it.. THANK YOU for posting your Grandmother's recipe!

For those of you that dont have it - here it is again (and my house smells DIVINE!)

Banana Nut Bread
(Granny Allison’s Recipe)

2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoons soda
1/2-teaspoon salt
1 cup mashed bananas (about 3 medium)
1/2 cups nuts
1/4-cup sour cream
1 stick butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs beaten
1-teaspoon vanilla

Stir flour, soda and salt together and set aside.
Mash your bananas and set aside.
Chop the nuts and set aside.

Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy; beat in eggs, vanilla and bananas. By hand, mix in flour and sour cream stirring until all is mixed in then add nuts.

Bake in one 9-inch loaf pan at 350° for 1 hour or until toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

You can split it up into two smaller loaf pans but reduce your baking time by almost half.

what! this looks out of control delish! the sour cream must make it moist and dense!

any pics (or did it get eaten already!!?!??

)

gotta put this on the baking list for next week!

I keep forgetting to do that!

Everyone loved it though! DH ate 3 pieces when he came home and the kids each had 2 - and breakfast this morning was.... banana bread!

Its verrryyyyy yummy! Probably some of the best I've had actually (shhh dont tell hubby's granny that though!)

i am really excited to try this. i love banana bread, but some recipes are TOO dry. the composition here seems to be perfect.

do you know if it can be doubled?

it is really moist.... and it forms almost like a crust on the outside but not a hard one, its just a tad bit harder than the inside. I dont know how to explain it, but I know its DEE-LISH!

I'd imagine you can double it -it seems simple enough to do that...

doesnt it to you?

ETA: I baked mine in a 9X13 cake pan vs. a loaf pan - easier and less time to cook. I think it cooked for about 25 - 30 mins or therebouts and it came out about 1.5 inches tall or so. Makes it easier for the kids to grab and go this way.

i do think it looks like it would double nicely. some recipes just never work well doubled for some reason.

MP...make sure to give us the low down when yours is done!

This is in the oven as I type.
I hope it comes out because I had to use shortening instead of butter because someone in the house who shall remain nameless (coff*DH*coff*) said we had butter and we didn't.
