So with the economy being so bad, and a "holiday

" coming up, what are you all doing to enjoy couple/family time and save money?

I'm planning to clean the house, send dd to grandma's house, and cook dh a nice meal and watch a Netflix movie.

Let's hear your ideas!!

Every Valentine's I buy my 2 little girls a charm for thier charm bracelet.

This year, I happened to find charms at the flea market last fall, when I had some money to spend....before the high heating bills and all.

I also found 2 little teddies holding hearts at walmart for $3.00, and 2 chocolate kissy lips lollipops...so when they wake up...their bracelets will be around the teddys and the teddys will also be holding the lolli's.

And more than likely we will make bannana and frozen strawberry milkshakes in the morning with pancakes.

And driving them to pick a movie sounds like a good idea too.

We never give each other gifts. So, this year will be the same as always

We will probably just have a nice dinner at home, maybe light some candles and drink some champagne we've had hanging out forever...

We're driving to the aquarium in Chatt. Just the 2 of us. We have a membership, so it's only costing gas and if we eat. But will prbably pack a picnic lunch.

The kids will get a small Valentine with $5 in it. They are saving up for more Manga books

...and then ks will put on that belly dancing costume that her dh got when he was in Iraq and she'll do something like this:

he he he.

oh yeah...and i forgot...I make my girls their Valentine's day cards...with construction paper and crayons and scissors. That way I can really make it personal and it's cute.

Out of oatmeal boxes we made them mailboxes and lined them with pink and red paper. Then we took another box and made the flag and used one of those paper holder thingys...it's got a ball end and then other end splays out in 2 to hold papers together---that thingy...we punched through the box and the flag so we can move the flag up and down. And then we put their names on the boxes and decorated them. We've held on to them now for 2 years and they like to keep all their cards in there...Valentine's, postcards, birthday, Halloween, Christmas....

We're not the wine and dine types either. I'm not sure what I will do for dd-she's almost 3 and would love a little something. Maybe heart shape pancakes with strawberries

I used to do stuff like that for my DD's when they were little.

And when they were in school I'd make their lunches and put in napkins cut in a heart shape.

A few years ago I made them beaded bracelets.

But now my girls are older & jaded.
