I've only had banties for setting. Can anyone recommend a good breed for laying?
Banties: Any ideas if any of the breeds really lay well?

I like my light brahmas. They give me 5-6 a week each.

I should clarify: I'm looking for a banty breed that lays well...are your Light Brahmas banty sized?
Japanese Silkies, mine lay almost everyday all year. Decent size eggs also.

They have bantam laying breeds. I have only had the buff orpingtons, which I liked , but I have heard good things about the auracana (hatchery EE realy) being very producctive. I have also heard good things about the bantam barred rocks and rhode island reds. Everyone seems to agree the leghorns are good layers, but some say they are flighty. For laying purposes hatchery birds are often better because, although they don't usually meet the breed standard, they have been selected with frequency of lay and egg size in mind. Show birds are selected using more stringent criteria, and thus in those lines laying capabilities often suffer.

Yes mine are bantys.
I have several bantams. My bantams that lay really well are my Gold-Laced Cochins. I have 6 of those girls and get 5-6 eggs from them daily.

My japanese bantams have all been laying pretty much daily since Dec. However I would look into banty versions of the standard layers. There are true bantams like japs that have no standard size version and then there are bantams that were bred from standards. They just selected for smaller size. The ones bred from the usual layer breeds might be some of your best bet for good egg laying and small size.

I have two Partridge Silkies, and get about 4 decent size eggs a week from each.
