Dumped dogs, that is. We were getting our chickens fed and watered this morning when a man in an older Bronze colored Oldsmobile stopped and let his dog out of the car and he took off. The dog looked confused and ran right for us. We caught him before he could get over to the chickens, thank goodness. He's really friendly and even knows several commands for being so young. Bad nes is, we can't keep him! We have no doggie items and actually had to use my belt to restrain him until DH could fashion a chain for him. We don't even have food for him, he ate half a meatloaf, ribs and 1/4 of a pizza. He was so thirsty that I had to fill a cat litter bucket with water for him. Sheesh, what a morning. I have put an ad on craigslist and freecycle, hoping someone will take him. If not, I will have no choice but to call the Humaine Society in the morning. Here are some pics of the little cutie if anyone here might be interested in him before tomorrow.

What a nice looking dog. Around here that dog would be adopted in minutes. Good luck, I hope someone comes along very soon. Shame on that man for dumping him, what a horrible thing to do. Good thing you were home at the time.

Love the air conditioned pants!!!

Looks like some kind of lab/boxer/pit cross... sorry I am too far away to take him! He is beautiful!

That is just so cruel. If someone can't keep their animal anymore, post on craigslist or take them to the SPCA. Thank goodness for that dog you were there to catch him and keep him from being run over.

i haven't had that happen here at our current house. But used to live in a really nice newer neighborhood. Came out one day to find two dogs wandering around like they were lost. One was huge and kinda scary, the other small and timid. Got up my courage and called them over, then into my backyard (where they proceeded to eat my hose and every empty plastic pot i owned). Clearly they had been starved and mistreated. My sister was able to take the smaller dog, and still has her to this day. But i could not keep, and could not find anyone to take the big boy. We worked with him for a while on walking on a leash, then took him to the SPCA. i hope he found a home, although . . . you never know. But that was the best i could do at the time.

God I hate people sometimes. Is t really that hard to just drop the dog
off at a local shelter??? Jerks.

Glad the dog found someone like you who would do the right thing.
He's a cute thing.
