The new coop is done. 8X8 with about 200 sq of run. It will be the winter home for my hens and serve as the coop for meat chickens during the summer while the layers are in the tractor.

About 1/3 of the material I had left over from when I built my garage. the window I got from craigslist for $15 bucks and it matchs my house and garage. The door is recycled.

Deep litter method with tarp. Currently it is not insulated but I can always add that.

What do you think?

The whole top and bottom overhangs are open with hardware cloth. Plenty of ventilation.

The coop is protected from the West and Northwest winds from the garage.

I just put all the girls and one boy

into the coop tonight under the cover of darkness. I hope they like what they wake up to.

The eggs are actaully golf balls to help them on thier first day in the coop. I don't plan to let them out into the run until at least mid day tomorrow

What a cute coop. Looks just like your house. We just finished ours too. In NH, we were pushing the limit of mother nature. Glad you got yours done too!
