This is the chick hatched from what looked to be my Barred Rock girl, Lexie's egg. Hawkeye is the sire, so supposedly, this is a pure BR chick. Well, if so, this is the oddest pure BR I've ever hatched. If you recall, this baby had chipmunk/skunk stripes down both sides of its back and some face markings like a Silver Laced Wyandotte, of which I have three. The egg was huge, very rounded and not pointy-ended like the SLW eggs I get, but it was so large that I did candle before incubating to be sure I did not see two yolk shadows. So, really, I guess you could say it wasn't the normal egg for either Lexie or a SLW. What so you think, folks? Is it a BR/SLW cross or a weird pure BR?

I cleaned out my messages so there are only a couple left. Hopefully, your msg will get through soon, Henry. Hawkeye mates a few girls and lately, one of the younger BR girls has been fertile, not just Lexie. Maybe he's getting around more lately, LOL.
