My grandson, Kadin (6), is here for the Easter weekend. He lives in Iowa, 300 miles away. I set some eggs, so he could watch a hatch. I just picked up some random eggs from the layer's coop, where I had all the Marans (black coppers, as well as blue marans), a few cochin hens, and Easter Eggers. No stress, no worry, just throw in a few eggs, so he can watch one or two hatch... that was my thought. I even forgot to put them on lockdown until the day before they hatched! Humidity was at 34% until then. All 10 of them hatched!
Kadin, what do you see?
Wait, I have to show grandpa ....
This is what Kadin saw:
The excitement quickly wore off; so he went out back and went fishing!
ETA: picture of the chicks!
