Following. I am overwhelmed too. It‘s at least 2 hours extra a night and little headway. Two have warm legs. The vet wants to see all 11 individually at 150-300 a visit. We have brought 2 to the ver. There seems to be a shortage of Sulfa Trimethoprin which had been prescribed and I found it was available over the counter. Two vets refuse to prescribe a large jar of Silvadene cream. They will dispense a 25 gram tube for $17 , which last a few days using on 5 of the worst cases, so I am buying antibiotic ointment. I found penicillan to put in water. There is no way to ensure a duck will get the proper dose when they splash out their water and it needs to be changed before they drink it all.
My ducks run from me now and are visibly stressed (the broody ones in particular). I saw injectable Penicillin…
All of our Ducks are Indian Runners.
I understand needing to see the patient, but in these cases, the vet is unable to assist the owner. Not all of my ducks require antibiotics at this point, but when they do we can‘t wait for an appt. Any Avian vet should know that. I will bring a duck in if it is sick but may be unable to do so if I spend so much money and time from work so they can look at 11 flippers of bumblefoot. No telemed available. I am worried I will lose some of them.
