It has started for the year.. Alex is set to hit me This Thursday... 7-1-2010. Ill have to keep an eye on him to see how strong he gets so that I know what to do... I already have to bring the chicks inside, the tortoises will be fine in there set up... and The birds should be ok.. provided Alex does not get Phyco on me... If Alex turns into a freak, Ill have to do something else... Im thinking of taking down my shade tarps... cause thats just wating for the wind to cause damage...

Keep you all posted..

Anyone else in the line of fire?

Good luck. I was in Charleston SC in '89 when Hurricane Hugo hit. I stayed there for that one and then evacuated for two later storms that turned out to be duds. You just never know with a hurricane, and the waiting is the worst part. All you can do is figure out whether to run or to hunker down. Again, good luck!

How is Alex going to affect the oil? Hopefully not throw it all on land... We have collapsible dog crates that we have to bring our birds in for bad weather since our coop is completely open on two sides. If we expect strong winds or hurricanes we just pop open the crates in the laundry room and the extra bathtub is turned into a brooder for those who need heat lights. I think everyone should either have faith in their coop or a plan for weather like that. NC hasn't seen a bad storm in a while. I'm waiting for the next Fran.

Some of the weather channels are saying the it looks like it may move more northerly than predicted. I am currently on an offshore platform out of Grand Isle, La......Good Luck!
