I am never in the direct path of these things, like you are. However, there is a "C" named hurricane in the Pacific right now that - if it builds - will give us some nice 105 degree weather with thunderstorms.

I am probably the only one thinking this but please bring it on. Tropical storms that come into TX this time of year bring very welcome rain and cooling temperatures. But of course I dont live on the coast. I used to, lived thru a Cat 3 and that was enough for me. I was 75 miles from the eye and we had 80mph winds and constant blowing rain for two days. Got more than 14 inches of rain when it hit. My brother is a Meteorologist in Corpus Christi, I need to call him and find out the skinny about what is going on with it.

80 MPH winds here we call windy. 50 MPH is a nice breeze. Seriously, I live in the desert, and those winds are a constant thing a few times a year. I actually got knocked right on my behind in the Target parking lot a couple of months back. It takes a mighty wind to knock this butt down.

Do find out and do tell. I live near Houston in an area with a lot of old trees. Fewer trees since Ike. We lost 5 huge trees, but none of 'em hit a structure!

Thanks everyone... I appriciate all your support...

Last hurricane we got... We had lots of water... I mean LOTS!!!... Our River went up about 20 feet... YES feet... and the City Next door ws flooded.. harlingen had lots of trees fall, lots of water damage... fences fell.. just horrible... but on my ranch... it was extreamly beautiful... the river went from 20 feet wide to about 100 feet wide... Ill take before and after pictures of the river so you all can see what I mean. I think its safe to say that The River Will rise again this year...

Keeping you in my thoughts....................

I hate hurricane season. Keep plenty of water for the animals on hand, we had a small one miss us but had a lot of wind. Took out power for 3 days.......... horrible, and it only took them 5 minutes to fix it once they came out.....

When we had a hurricane come through power was only out for a day...... go figure.

hey texascowboy1979. i live in the valley as well... and i'm worried about our birds. my husband and i are up in Dallas right now and we left our birds with our ol' folks.
