Hello there! How are you?
First of all, my name is Daniel and I live in Australia. I joined this forum back in 2008 but for some reason I only viewed a few threads and then never came back. I'm still not sure why that happened

. I'm only young but the knowledge I have on animals is great. Many people come to me for advice and I'm always giving advice out on a regular basis. I'm not sure how I remember the needs for many animals but I wish my maths was as good

. My family know that every time I go online or get a book that it has something about keeping wildlife, particularly natives. I volunteer at a wildlife park and love it! It gives me a chance to spend time with the animals I usually don't keep.

I live out on a small farm of 108acres and have many pets. I have a love of natives and own quite a lot of reptiles and other natives. Although I still love my chickens

. The land was cleared along time ago and we are currently revegetating it back to its natural state. Its been happening faster since a local sustainable group gave us some money for more trees. To date we have planted roughly 600 trees (i think

) and I will be planting another 100 this weekend.

My other interest include native plants, succulents, photography and sport.

Here is a link to a few of my photos

Now onto my chickens!

Recently we finally got some chickens, again. 5 Isa browns. They are such a lovely bunch and quite tame, they will happily sit on my lap and eat some meal worms or cheese

. Although they keep on thinking my eyes look like something they can peck

. They are still getting used to their home atm and in a couple of weeks they should be free ranging

.

I used to have 13 chickens when I was younger and no I'm hoping to get more. This year I should be getting some silkies, plymouth rocks and maybe a few frizzles.

Will also be getting a pair of peafowls and one emu

And some kangaroos

I think that will do for now, if you have any questions feel free to ask!

Welcome! It's always nice when knowledgeable younger members join the forum!

(Just so you know, posting your age is discouraged, though)

Welcome from Missouri, Daniel! Great having you on board with us. I love your photography! How on earth did you get that dessert shot? Gorgeous! You have a good eye. Sounds like you have a good mind also

I am sure you will be an asset to our on line community.

Thanks for the welcomes!
Kooshie I have now got rid of my age

Sorry, yes, the sunset one. Awesome shot. I belong to a local Art Guild and love taking photos. I hope you have some place to display your shots? They would be winners.

Im not actually apart of any art/photography groups and I don't show show my pictures (apart from on facebook
big_smile.png
). My family and friends do bug me about how I don't join any clubs so maybe I should join one.

I also forgot to add that I take in injured and unwanted turtles. Its amazing the amount of turtles people release into the wild when they grow to big for their tanks. Its a great feeling knowing that the turtles are having a much better life with me.

You are a dear to rescue the turtles, too! Yes, you should join an art group and show your work...if you have time

You are very, very good. I really enjoyed looking at your photos.

Hi there Chicken mouth and
welcome-byc.gif
from Melbourne

Sounds like you have lots of space over there to keep a huge menagerie- lucky you. I grew up on a farm in Country NSW - I loved the rural life- and hope that when my working days are done that I can get back to having some land again. I do have a 13 acre block at the momnet- but I can never build there. Lucky my block is still native vegetation and has never been cleared- But I have still planted a few trees up there just to help things along.

Oh..And whatever your age..Good to see some more Aussies keen on Poultry joining up here!
