I found this misshapen hot mess in the coop today. I have five girls and usually get four eggs a day. There is usually an elongated egg in the mix, but nothing like this monster that won't even fit in the large egg carton. It looks as if it has cracks all over it - but its not cracked. It also has a strange bulge - glad I didn't lay this. I suspect it might have hurt.

I had one just like it last week- turned out to have a double yolk

I get those about once a week. At some point I'm going to line 'em all up and take a photo to post to threads like this. Just a glitch in one of the hen's laying process, egg will be fine although some tend to be a bit "watery". Use 'em in the next omelet or scrambled eggs.

I'll let you know in the morning - after breakfast!

I've seen one or two like that... hen probably felt better after.

Single yolk - couple of small blood spots. Whites were a little watery and a bit foamy. Seemed to be more chalazae than normal. Fed it to the DH - he liked it.

Today I got another elongated egg - but none of those veined cracks and not quite as big or misshapen. Do you think she has a hard time getting it out and that's why they are longer?
