This feed looks like it is formulated for exotic pheasants. It is outrageously priced too. It has a B12 supplement and more chlorine than most feeds.

I'd prefer to defer in this to someone with more experience in feed components.

However, a couple of observations when comparing some parts of that to the labels on my desk:

The fat % in that is MUCH higher than either Purina or Nutrena. The fiber is much lower. I don't see a minimum and maximum salt range. The Methionine seems on the high side -- significantly higher than either of the tags I have on hand. I'm not sure what the appropriate safe zone is for that, though, with the birds you are raising (Bobwhites).

Also, the price on that feed is super high. If you can get feed locally, I think you'd be much better doing so. A 40 pound bag of that feed is $27. I put in my zip code to check the shipping. That would be another $26 for one forty pound bag of feed. The total would be $56 for a single forty pound bag of feed. I can buy almost 200 pounds of Purina, or 160 pounds of Nutrena for about that amount of money.

If you are raising specialized birds that need different nutrient content than what is in Purina / Nutrena or whatever is available to you locally AND those needs were supplied by this food then it might be different. I don't think this is likely to be your situation, though, with Bobwhites.

However, I want to thank you for posting the link to that site. I'm off to order some aardvark and rhinoceros food.

(Now, to be more realistic, I'm off to look at their reptile foods...)

The FAT concerns me, but most of the other content is not distressing. Anything less than 0.5% or less is inert. Iron is a bit high, but within an acceptable range.
I'm with Rozzie. The big bag folks are a smarter choice.
Yes, you can feed STARTER to most species of quail from hatch to dispatch.

Mazuri generally makes very high quality foods. I've looked for some of their products before but can't find them locally. Lots of people with exotic animals large or small use mazuri feeds. You will pay for the quality though. It is definitely not on the cheap end and even their food for common animals like guinea pigs is in the top 2 or 3 most expensive foods you can possibly buy.

So, it would be OK to feed the adults starter?
And Ornamental Pheasants (goldens) I could feed them Gamebird breeder?

Thanx!!
