Long story short went out of town for a week for work my chicken sitter had a death in the family didnt care for my flock I come home to five of my babies dead the rest of the flock is doing really bad combs almost all gone very lethargic wings droopy and thier feathers above thier tail feathers are gone on some of them i've watered and fed them they are not drinking its fifteen degrees outside i have thier heat lamp on in the coop and they are being extremely mean pecking each other and pecking at me which they have NEVER done what else can I do for them? My best guess is they have not had food or water for four days. .

I'm so sorry. Even with a death in the family, she had no excuse to neglect your birds. That is terrible. She could have at least called so you could make other arrangements. The poor things. Have you tried protein rich treats, maybe some yogurt or scrambled eggs? I'm not sure what else to tell you, but I hope they get to feeling better soon.

Electrolytes in the water, mashed boiled eggs, oatmeal, protein(cat food), veggies, like that.
I'd do everything in my power to warm them up(bring them in the garage, heat lamp, cover the cages with a blanket) if you can.
Put some vaseline on combs and wattles.
If they've been locked up for days with no food and water, no doubt they are angry and desperate.
This is so sad. Take good care of them, they've had a rough few days.

First I would seperate them. Then once they are seperated make sure they all have a bowl of food and water. Maybe give them a warm bath, but make sure after your done they stay warm. I also found a natural probiotuic that my help. Its is....

3 tbsp of dry crumbles
4 tbsp of milk (sweet or sour) or buttermilk
1 tbsp of un flavored yogurt
1 tbsp of appole sauce
and get a vitamin E capsule and cut the end of and give them 1000 mg
Then mix all together

I have nevered tried this but I found it and it seems pretty good. Oh, and how many chickens do you have?

Hope I helped and

That would break my heart and tick me off!!! Not much you can do except provide plenty of good food (including protein), and give them lots of TLC. I would put a little booster of some kind into their water. The heat lamp (if secured properly and with a guard) sounds good, as I'm sure their resistance is down since they've been starving/dehydrated. The feather picking is probably from trying to get protein nourishment, plus just frustration. How awful!!

I'm boiling eggs now for a protein boost got the yogurt ready too I had twenty one healthy fat chickens a week ago now I'm down to seventeen skinny miserable skeleton birds I'm pretty sure three of them are beyond help those three are now in the heated garage in seperate cages keep your fingers crossed for them please Any ideas for the missing saddle feathers? Will my girls calm down and be nice again once they get healthy? they are being absolutly vicious to each other right now

If you have a syringe try to get some electrolytes into them. Pedialyte, gatorade or whatever you can get most readily. They are being miserable to one another because they have gone into survival mode. Once you get them eating and drinking again they will calm down. This is my greatest worry whenever I go away. I always provide my animal caretaker with the following phone #s: My cell, my wife's cell, my daughter's , my best friend's, and my vet's. You're doing all the right things. This miserable weather just exacerbates the situation. Good luck.
