Got this new boy yesterday. No clue what breed he is, but he's got such nice colors. The previous owner inherited him when he bought his house and had no hens for him. Also, they didn't feed him or anything. I was told that he was incredibly mean to people, but he certainly didn't seem scared of us when we went to catch him. He did lunge at me a little when trying to pick him up the first time, but I held him a while and he didn't try to bite or anything when I had him in my arms. Blah blah blah, long story short, I have no idea what breed he is. Can anyone help? Is he just a mutt?

Thanks! Now the question comes, do I want to cross him with EE's, Sumatra's, Leghorns, or just put him in the pot and use his feathers for a headdress?

So, my DW

asks "what are those blue andalusion good for anyway?"

I mean, she know's it's going to make a beautiful headdress if nothing else.

He's going to be SO beautiful strutting around your yard!

And just think about all of those beautiful blue hens that lay blue and green eggs that he could sire... Or some blue sumatras... Or some gorgeous Leghorns...

And he'll be SO tough and stringey and strong-tasting!

And what do you do with a head dress anyway?

We'll have to get some pix tomorrow when we let him out... You know, just in case he is as mean as I was told he was
And just think about all of those beautiful blue hens that lay blue and green eggs that he could sire...

Our EE roo would probably be jealous

Or some blue sumatras...

Have 15 straigt run 2 week old sumatras right now, it'd be a while before they are ready for him
Or some gorgeous Leghorns...

I really do like the idea of making some nice leghorn crosses with him
And he'll be SO tough and stringey and strong-tasting!

Oh yeah, I forgot about him supposedly being mean to people... Then by all means get rid of him if he proves to be aggressive. I won't keep any roosters that even think about attacking me/other people...

But he sure is beautiful! Hopefully his previous owner was wrong about his temperament...
