Help! My 8 week old roo "Perkins" has a foamy eye. It was foamy this morning, but then not foamy at noon and about 2pm. Its now 6pm and I just found it foamy again. Here is a pic...

I did a search on the forum, but everyone says that when they experienced it, the bird was coughing, sneezing, or raspy. He is not making any weird noises or coughing or anything. He seems to be eating and drinking ok.

Could this be something simple?
I looked up CRD, but he doesn't have the other symptoms. I just got him yesterday. He is in a very clean cage with no dust.

Could it be an eye infection? I have some drops that my son had for pink eye, are those too risky?

I don't even know if our vet sees chickens.

CRD shows up different in different birds. No matter what, that is a respiratory problem, and needs treated like CRD. You can see how to treat it HERE . Good luck!

That site says "Keep in mind that a bird that has had CRD, will become a carrier after symptoms go away, and may get sick again when under stress. "

Does that mean that he can still give it to my other birds after he is treated?

Should I keep him?

So far I have not put him in the run with the others, but his cage is butted up next to theirs so they can see each other.
You think my others have been exposed? They don't share food or water bowls.

My Roo occasionally has a few bubbles like that in his eye. One day they are there the next they are gone.

Yes, injections are best, but you can also get Baytril from the vet as tablets. Also, if you have a bird that shows symptoms on and off, it has a problem. Some birds can deal with CRD on their own, but some, even after medication will never stop showing symptoms. I don't even treat it anymore, if were to see it on my yard, I cull. But that is why I don't have it either any more...
