Trying to give a good description, but I live 1 house away from a corner, so along my side, I have 4 neighbors. One backyard is against my front, #2's backyard is against my side yard, #3's yard is against my back yard, and #4's extends behind my yard. #4 has a totally fenced in yard.
My 4 big girls seem to totaly enjoy #3's yard over my own. Those neighbors are an older couple who seemed to not mind. Even so, at first, I would go outside, and call them back, but the neighbor would say to let them be. Now, we all know that we shouldn't impose on neighbors, even if they say it's alright. Maybe they were just being nice.
Nope, they weren't just being nice. They sit outside at night and watch Chicken TV. They bring out treats for the girls (after asking approval) They put out a pan of water for the hot days. They call them " The Ladies".
Two weeks ago, the ladies went around the fence that seperates neighbors 3 and 4, and into neighbor 4's garage. So I gathered them up, handed them over the fence to the neighbor, and we got them rounded up. I decided the girls needed to be "grounded".
Three days later, my neighbor " complained". She asked where " The ladies" have been, and when I told her they were grounded, she said she missed them.
It seems she has told everyone she knows how The Ladies come and visit her everyday. And yes, shes admitted people think shes nutty for getting excited over chickens.
Her husband was out there last night throwing treats saying very loudly " Here my little chickens" ( looking my way to make sure I heard LOL). I looked out later, and they were both watching Chicken TV. And one of the girls was on the arm of the chair. I went over, and the man was telling me excitedly how the chickens came running to him when he came home from work. And the woman said she thinks if we didnt have the chickens for her to watch, shes probably go nuts.
So, I am gonna have to let them loose a little each day- even if they happen to end up in neighor 4's garage ( which they did again yesterday). Because we can't deprive a couple of theraputical chicken antics, can we?
