It's done at last! My sweet dad built this for me, with some final work by DH. Both were great sports. It sits in the front yard, so I dressed it up with shingles from the Habitat Store, scalloped trim from the craft store, and a stencil on the front. It will be home to 6-8 bantams, and yes, I can move it all by myself!

Drop-down back door for egg access (floor of house slides out for cleaning)

Front door --- the ramp pulls up like a drawbridge and becomes the door

We have 1/2" hardware cloth on the sides, and 2" x 4" wire on the bottom to prevent digging predators (and dusting holes in the yard!). I also have a piece of plexiglass to go over the triangular window in the back to prevent drafts.

Thanks Dad!!

That is so CUTE!!! Nice Dad and hubby to finish it.

What are the shingles made out of? And what type of wheels are those and how are they attached?

I'm converting a dog house into a tractor and debating about adding shingles (LOVE yours) because of the rainy NW and trying to figure out how to add wheels to the back. Dog house was built on a pallet.

Thanks for your help and thank for sharing your great new tractor.

I have since added bigger ventilation on the front and back.

That is a beautifully made tractor. I have the same design and I love it. Great job!
A quick note from having the same design- I had to remove the back window and just leave the hardware cloth in place to aid in ventilation. It got too stuffy in mine. I also had a problem with the back door warping over time. My door was not reinforced, just plywood. I had to add additional catches around the door to keep it secure. You may not have the same issues, but I figured I would mention it.
