It IS winter out there... it's getting cold again!
The hassle is finding a place to GET them that won't require a minimum order of 25. I only want a few at a time, maybe start a rotation of them or something. Means I'd have to figure out a working tractor design... an A frame tractor just doesn't work for me. Maybe just a frame with a plywood cover for half of it, on wheels.
I need to build more pens for my new additions to my flock, but once I am caught up I have been thinking of doing this too for some food. At the auction I got a pair of Q's Salmon Favorelles and one Barred Rock Roo, two dozen eggs, a pet taxi, a 20 compartment canary cage (ooops thought it was all open inside and would have been good for Char's Pigeons), a scooter for Char, and two metal waterers. I think that is it, but I may be missing something. Then on Sunday I went and met Steph at her house picked up another 1 1/2 doz of eggs and 4 call ducks. Saw all her sweet chickens and met her son, who doesn't know the meaning of cold.
My sister and I had a blast! Of course, Charlotte did too. Char was trying to get me to bid on some more Pigeons, but I told her we need to wait. She even offered one time to go up front and do the bidding for me, I said oh no no no LOL. However, the chinchilla they were auctioning was really cute and I was tempted, but I held back the urge. Vickie said that I will have to come back and get her for the next one, although I think part of it her and I always have a blast together whatever we do and we don't get to see each other that often. She really like Stephs green egg and couldn't stop talking about it, so I told her she should get some. But so far she is saying no we will just have to work on her bcs she is really close to the temptation.
Barnswallow: Yeah, I like auctions. They can be quite addictive too and especially when we are talking about chickens. There is something about them that gets me all excited and I always have a blast at them even if I am with my father-in-law. However, there was a few of those auctioneers that I simply could not understand. Not that they talk fast but too much twang for me to understand, LOL. Maybe it is time for me to go and hang with FIL again to get a lesson on twang. He cracks me up, bcs it took me several years before I could halfway understand him and he has the funniest of saying that I have never heard before him.
