I don't think it's because you haven't posted. If you're watching a thread (getting notified of replies) and you get a notification but then don't go and read the new post(s), you won't get further notifications until after you view the thread again. And I think it's always been this way.

It's always been like that for me, even when I do post (or look) regularly in a thread.

Do you view the most recent page so the thread is marked as read? I don't think watched threads are unwatched when one stops replying to them.

I think if you get a notification from a watched thread and then don't view it so the thread is marked as read, you won't get further notifications until after it gets marked as read, and if I'm not mistaken, that requires viewing the most recent page in the thread. For me at least, there are threads there that I haven't replied to in years. I don't think it gets pruned.

Yeah I know that’s a way to get around it but I don’t think about it much. And the few times I look at it I get frustrated all all the threads I’ve missed and forgotten about

Ok maybe that’s the case. I always mean to read to the last newest posts, but maybe it’s a mistake on my part
