Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

Well it is about time for us to have chicks that are hatching, and since I am running the "Guess the number of chicks that hatch" contest I asked Laree if she would whip me up one of her wonderful form and spreadsheet jobbies. (Very technical term here!)

Thank you so much Laree!

Oy vey! I'm going to have to be very patient. Strange thing is that there has been no peeping. Not a sound. He's tapped at the shell again (not that I saw it, but the shell is more broken), but there is no peeping.

Finally had a chance to download the pics of my first turkey poult. Poor thing has really perked up now that it is warmed back up. I think it is just adorable!

Perhaps it is best to extend the contest until midnight tomorrow, just because so many participants won't have checked in yet...

Yes- I am Queen of this contest, so I say it is so!

Flapper Contest entries can be submitted until Midnight LOCAL time to the entrant, Friday. I'll set up a poll then and we can watch it when the NORMAL chicks hatch.

All hail the Queen!!!!

Two more of the turkey eggs have pipped! DH might just be right, I might wind up with all six of those eggs hatching. I was hoping to get two out of them.

They will? Yay! I love mine and have been thinking I need more and wishing they had a larger size so that is great news.

They didn't happen to say how many chicks it will brood did they?

Thanks for that info.

$129.99 does seem a bit steep, especially since it cost me $99.95 to buy the one from the importer here wired for our 240v so I'm probably looking at nearly double their advertised price. I'll keep an eye on the importers site to see what they list them for.

I'm envious of how cheap everything is over there in the USA, to get a normal heat lamp socket, shield and globe would have been more than my Eco-Glow.

I may well just buy some more of the smaller ones then I have the flexibility to use more than one if I need it. I keep telling myself with the savings in power it pays for it's self. Plus I don't like the fire risk of the globes, had a few scares the one and only brooding I used one.

That's no lie- the normal lights are very dangerous, and I've known more folks who've lost birds to fires from them than I've known who HAVEN'T!! Fires are scary.

So I walked all over the farm today and took a bunch of pics to see if I could find a good enough stink eye for the contest...I REALLY need that SOP! So Here is my entry:

SHe was the meanest looking one I could find!
My cats dont try to look in...they will be really sad when the "warm box on the table" goes away though!

Nothing happening under those cats....do you think they are responsible for the temp spikes? Terri O
