UPDATE: seems there is an accepted sexing on these birds, the only issue left is the breed of the little red frizzle?!?!

Think so? Even with the yellow tips on the comb? I've been wondering... 100% the friendliest of all my chickens (always has to be first in line to be spoiled or for feed... Always follows closely)!

The silkie with the black top has a slightly larger and brighter metallic blue piece on the side of it's head, if it helps any (haven't seen anything about visually sexing silkies)

So far, I'm leaning toward pullet on the black-headed Silkie, poss. roo on the other, but def. roo on the Cochin frizzle. He's adorable!

I'd like a straight on shot of the combs on the Silkies, and shots of them standing where I can see their legs- a few on a table or driveway or something. The posture of Silkies is often more indicative of gender- the pullets have a very horizontal posture, where the boys stand up a lot more.

ETA- the metallic blue part is their blue ear lobe. Awesome, isn't it?

Yeah it is... These three all have a pretty horizontal stance... Unless confronting eachother playing (and that only last seconds ya know)! I'll see if I can get some straight on shots, they never stop moving so it's kinda rough to get them like that...

It's almost odd... I've always assumed the one with the black top was a possible roo and the other two were pullets, these are hard to tell I guess?

REALLY hard to tell. I do think the longer pieces of fluff off the back of the black poof make me think boy a bit, but the front is heavy, which suggests girl. The wider com area also suggest possible boy...it's difficult!

I'm going to be coop building all day, out North of town- how about an egg trip tomorrow? What all do you want? I have a list here.

I get ya I think... So the forward poof movement would be a normal "girl thing" then? Obviously there's still a lot left to learn about these little three

Tomorrow would work fine for me, I guess a good mix of would be great, just as long as they all fit in the incubator

Can't wait to hatch some chicks, my boy is so excited about it

Ya know, I was just looking at some other frizzle pics and noticed something... mine has non-feathered feet and bright yellow skin on it's feet, and that seems to be completely backwards of everything else I'm finding... any ideas?

a red fizzle will have yellow feet so will a white. a blue black or splash will have slate blue legs. really cute
yes a frizzled cochin should have feathered feet. other breeds come in frizzle

Okay so does that mean the one I have is a Serama then? Cause all the examples of red frizzle Cochins I could find had feathered feet...
