Just now catching up so sorry if this is a bit late. I have been turning off the light for my 1 week olds during the day as it has been plenty warm for them. At night I am only using a 40 watt bulb and it is plenty for now. I may have to get something smaller soon. Good luck with those ducks.

I have several breeds now that I would love to be able to seperate next spring to make sure they breed true. I currently have 4 seperate areas to seperate the different breeds. I need one more. DH says he is not building anymore coops. I wonder if that means that I cannot build another coop or have my son build one

We have lots of lumber, lots and lots of lumber.

This evening Hope and I had just finished power washing a big rag rug and placing it on the clothes line to dry, when a clutch of chickadees learning to fly decided that the rug was an ideal landing strip. They sure were cute but their flights were rather short as they tried out their newly discovered ability. It must have been exhausting for them and this one evidently was tired.

We had just came in to the house when I heard a knock at the front door. It was a young couple who are egg customers. Their cat had chased a chicken up on the deck and the wife sat watching it for 3 hours, not wanting the cat to get it or for the chicken to leave and possibly be eaten by something else. When the husband got home he caught it, placed it in their cat carrier and brought it to me hoping I would take it. I've placed it in a quarantine cage and told them should they discover who owns it tell them to come and get it. It is a rather unusually colored bird.

I have a hen in and out of the sin bin now for several weeks. She just won't stop mounting the other lower pecking order girls. She is slated for the butcher the summer when the new pullets start laying. In the mean time I am feeding extra protein to the balding hen to help with feather regrowth.

Good luck with your investigation.

Pretty hen!
Had hail with the storm that went thru this morning. lol My tom Henry was on his roost outside and I sure he didnt enjoy that!

Hey Opa,

We use the cheap square fans you can get at Tractor Supply or Meijers for like $10-15 bucks. We have 3 of them and other than #4 that got kicked by my horse all work fine with the dust. Maybe worth a try? They are not real big but I use one per coop and they do OK. My fans have lasted 5 years now. Jenn

I spent 4 houys wasting the morning setting in court, thot they were gonna hear hubbys Comp case today but they postponed AGAIN. We should be used to this after 4 years of it.

That's rediculous, sorry to hear that.
