So I blew off doing homework today to work in the yard. Mowed mine and the neighbor's yard with the tractor and lawn sweeper. Gathered up the leaves and clippings and dumped 20 cubic feet of clippings in the chicken run.
All of the girls were diving into the pile. 20 to 30 minutes later, the mound was spread all over the place as a nice carpet of mulch. Such emtertaining helpers.

Do you have a pic of your poop boards in your coop? I've tried to picture these and wondered if they would work in my coop. Sounds like they make clean up a snap!!

Phew! Caught up again for the second time today. Went out with DH to get some fresh donuts this afternoon from his favorite farm stand. I enjoyed one with a peppermint mocha from McD's. It was so good and really helped warm me up. Then we went into Ionia to pick up a few things from Lowe's. Well, it looks like that store is closing and all their stuff is 20% off. So we loaded up on some stuff we needed and decided to go back Monday after we make a list of things we'll need in the future. All in all, it was a pretty good, but chilly, day.

Oh, and I swear, it looked like there was something a bit more to the rain that was spitting earlier. Something whitish...

That is the cutest thing I've ever heard! What a sweetie!

I will now stop calling my rooster a pansy. He fought off a hawk this evening. A hawk swooped down on him and his EE girlfriend. As the hawk pulled up to try and make a grab, Neil jump and kicked and flapped at him while Cadbury ran for cover. The hawk flew to a nearby tree and my son ran out and ran him off. So proud of my guy! Now if he could just learn to stand up the hens.

Thanks everyone for suggestions. I am wearing the dust mask into the coop. I am eager to see some photos of poop boards if you have them and I may try to use sand and corn cob in the coop because I do think the pine bothers me.
Luckily I don't have a problem for most the year, just the winter months between the cold/dry air and the closed up coop.
Thanks again for ideas!
