First nest box -> FAIL. Too short...the hens mostly used it but didn't like it and with the top flat it was COVERED in chicken poop because they'd stand on top to look out the front window.

Picked up a screen door that was super cheap bc the screen was ripped. Cut a piece of T-111 to fit the opening. Installed it with hinges and mounted 1/2 inch hardware cloth behind it. We can essentially open a 2x3 foot opening in the door when it's hot out.

I built covers over the windows that had 1/2 inch welded wire mesh so we could still open the windows but when open the screen area would also have hardware cloth protection.

DIY Coop we designed and built for our mixed flock of 10 birds. Started with five but chicken math set in early. Made it a shed style building so it would be useful for future homeowners too. Building is 6x8 and right now feeds to a small 6x8 foot enclosed run. Most of the time our flock free ranges.
