    ONE LEGGED LIFE

It sure doesn't look like a predator took it off. This group is in a large pen within our larger run as they adjust to being outside and being around the older chickens. Our older chickens can see them but not get to them which has worked to avoid issues when introducing new hens. Nothing...

    Sapphire olive egger?

My leghorn has yellow legs and lays big white eggs. But my guess with the crest is you've got a sapphire on your hands aka leghorn/cream crested legbar

    ONE LEGGED LIFE

So I have a black Australorp who lost oxygen at a week old our fault :( . He limped for a while and we thought she might end up a special needs chicken although she always seemed just fine. Then out of nowhere she regained use of the leg or so we thought and we figured all was good. This past...

Completely Random Question About Toys for the ladies

I know there are tons of DIY toy ideas for our birds but I am actually a blogger hosting a Summer giveaway event here pretty soon and I want to incorporate chickens into the event. Does any one have any good suggestions for products/website (toys/treats) for chickens that people can buy? I...

    Bantam Attacks

They are growing really fast and yes I can add the heat lamp and point it at the hutch which I actually did this afternoon. As soon as the behavior started happening, I tried to act fast and get them in a new home. Problem I am seeing is that none of the others are having problems.

    Bantam Attacks

I just separated him or her and they are very clearly not happy with me, the noise level just tripled

    Bantam Attacks

I was actually thinking about moving them into a (rabbit hutch) tonight that we have but they are in a big rubbermaid container. I was afraid to move them outside just yet with the weather even though they seem more than ready to get out and explore/forage.

    Bantam Attacks

All 9 of my chicks have been in the same container since a few days old. They are now around 20 days old and my two bantams are starting to fight a LOT. The one is pecking the crap out of the other for no apparent reason. Why? How do I fix this? Does this mean she is a he? They rest are...

Ask your chick related questions HERE! (Newbies welcome!)

What age would you start moving the chicks out? Mine seem ready but they are only about 20 days old. They are starting to get fiesty with each other and I don't want them to start fighting because they are inside. BTW we are in MI so the weather is completely unpredictable even though it has...

    Gardens & Chickens Mixed

Also, is what they eat or turn up their beaks to as chicks a good indication of the future eating habits? My chicks have zero interest in apples or carrots so far and only seem to appeal to greens or bugs/worms.
