    No feathers on her butt/back

They have a good amount of space, but they were in a brooder before this and maybe stayed there a bit too long. Needed to introduce them to my older ladies and was nervous about them getting picked on, so I probably procrastinated longer than I should :( thanks for the info, I'll put some salve...

    No feathers on her butt/back

I have several pullets who have picked the feathers off their back/tail area. I have assumed it's parasites, and put some DE where they dust bathe... but it's hard to tell if the problem is fixed? I saw one with a little drop of blood, like she'd picked at a feather again, but couldn't figure...

    Time to pare down!

So I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I'll give it a try! I ordered too many babies for us to keep in order to meet the minimum shipping for winter months, and now I'm thinking would be a good time to start thinning the flock a bit! I've never sold any before though, so I'm going to...

Hey everyone, I just acquired 3 silkie pullets, one about 6 months the other two maybe 2-3 months... my question is, I got them today from their mama, and I couldn't make it over to the feed store before it closed for chick starter. I have layer feed for my older hens, but my choices now are...

    Sick chicken? 5 months old

Okay, as an update... i've given her a couple baths w/ epsom salt, and i rubbed some oil on her vent although i can't feel any kind of bulge or anything? She's just 5 months, so i know it COULD be an egg, if so it would be her FIRST egg, but even being small i would think i could feel it more...

Good evening everyone! We have recently come unexpectedly into chickens :) We got 4 new baby araucanas, and they are precious. I've pulled together a brooder, and have about 3-4 weeks to come up with a coop setup outside for them, so i'll be scouring the website here frantically over the next...
