A little over a month ago I wormed my chickens with Valbazen at 1/2cc per hen, and repeated 10 days later with the same dosage. The reason we wormed was because they had been losing weight, their keel bone is pronounced and one hen had diarrhea and a messy bottom. This hen had dark water...
No,it looks like there were never feathers to begin, just smooth skin with which makes me think nutrient deficiency since they are so thin. I didn't notice the feather loss until they were soaked from the rain. Some of them are ameraucanas so their beards covered it up until they were wet.
I bought %20 game bird feed, the highest they had. I went out last night, checked their crops and most of them were mushy (12 hens). I was concerned about sour crop, so I researched and planed on going out to get the monistat to treat today. I went out this morning and it feels as though all...
Thank you! I'm going to go to our feed store tomorrow morning and buy the vitamins and higher protein feed (hopefully the game bird one) if they carry it.
Our chickens are losing weight drastically. They seem to be feeling fine, but breastbone is sticking out and they feel so skinny. I wormed them 10 days ago with Valbazen and am about to start another round of wormer. About a month ago I integrated my younger chicks and went to an all purpose...
I found Valbazen for goats at a feedstore near us. Is that the same for chickens also? Our chickens have runs (messy bottoms) pale wattles (not pale combs) and I'm thinking its due to the worms. I'm not sure if I want to wait for shipping on a wormer if I can get one local and treat faster...
It's so hard to wait! I was sure I had duds for layers when all of mine didn't start laying until about 9 months. They are all various breeds (Even some supposed to be early layers). All of the sudden they started laying at the same time. Now I get 6-8 eggs during the coldest time of year...
My Welsummer lays brown speckled eggs! I love them. From what I have heard, researched, speckled eggs is common from the Welsummers, :) Love your photos of your eggs.
Thanks for your suggestions. She is doing better. No runny nose or sneezing :) I think it's the ventilation in the coop. They have been next to our larger coop/run for about a week now in a look but don't touch run, so I will be integrating her and her buddy in to the large coop tomorrow...
Hi, I have a free 8 week old Blue Ameraucana Rooster available to good home. He came from a breeder near us and now he has to go since we aren't allowed to have roosters in city limits. Starting to develop saddle feathers. Still developing his neck feathers! Must have other chicks between...
I have a pullet that is sneezing and has a slight runny nose. I'm worried about her especially in this cold weather. Night time gets down to about 28 degrees right now,and its about 40 degrees in the daytime. She is with one other chicken in one of those prefabricated coops that have a small...
