    LSO Silkie hatching eggs

Hello! I'm looking to get about a half dozen hatching eggs in the next few months. I lost my paint silkie rooster and it looks like none of the eggs my girls have laid are fertilized. I'm pretty open as to color. Honestly I'm good with bearded or unbearded.

What are THESE!????? Sand colored mites in my house.

Well that's good to know! From the way they behaved I would have expected them to react to bleach like fire ants. Floating. *Shudder*

I honestly really hate bleach but I think I'll do that. This is so disgusting.

What are THESE!????? Sand colored mites in my house.

Oh. They're getting treated ASAP. Sadly I have a cat, or otherwise I'd just permethrin-ise everything. I don't think bleach would kill them though and I am NAUSEATED. 🤢🤢🤢 I've been trying to keep on top of the leaning in that room as much as possible but I just don't know what this IS!!? I'm...

What are THESE!????? Sand colored mites in my house.

So I have had four silkies in my house for quite a while. they just left this week, so I took the time this weekend to clean my house. The next day, I found this pile of what look like sand on the floor. When I swept it up it clumped together like wet sand. Upon a closer inspection however, it's...

What is this weird abscess thing?!

I'd try a hot compress! I've had that with mine. It's an ingrown feather. I've gotten them out before. Just be sure to pull the rotten feather out too. They get real nasty. I've gone at them with tweezers before. Once it starts bleeding freely and cleanly it's usually ok imo.

I've got a recent hawk problem too TJ. I had to build a covered run for my flock because I was not ABOUT to lose more of them. I have a redtail and a cooper's that stalk my house like it's a buffet table!

Whiting True Blue & Green Questions

One of my girls lays that light light blue color too! I have to take it inside for closer inspection sometimes because I'm waiting for one of my hens to start laying--she's the only white egger I have.

    Chicken Breeding Projects, For 2020!

My breeding projects for the next year will be to A-see what my Dark Brahma roo throws in my egg flock, B- breed the silkies I got for free (one looks HUGE comparatively. A Black Splash roo), and C- try to get some Crevecoeur eggs to hatch out once the silkies are old enough to be mommas!

I think you're right! He thinks I'm a dominant female! Wow that explains a lot. Also the petting I do probably comes across as a dominant female grooming the rooster. Huh!

To me she looks more like a Rock too. Also, I wouldn't use spur-nubs to tell! Some of my girls popped out spur nubs before my boys!

Well I'm not worried about strength as much as I am about my emotions lol. Skinning, plucking, eviscerating, no problem! The actual KILLING I may have a problem with.

I've lost a few earrings to my rooster! So far, he hasn't died from eating them. Surprisingly.
