Darn, I’m in the right state for once, but wrong neck of the woods. Would have had some interestingly different chicks which would be good for teaching different is good too...(Naked Necks, and Fibros-All Black)
I would love to see an idea of how the hens look for the non-black rooster... he will make a lot of black chicks, which I personally have enough of heh...
I’ve had electricity be out for 12 hours and my eggs still hatched just half a day behind. Don’t open the incubator and if power is on now, then nothing more is needed, but for future reference bundling up whatever holds your eggs to help hold the heat in helps.
I’ve had a few that still had pinky tip sized yolk unabsorbed and it’s been 50/50 on if it gets absorbed. Most of the time those ones shrink some, but mostly just become an “outtie” and then fall off at some point within the next couple of weeks. For future reference though, you should try to...
I wouldn’t put wax on that. You have exposed section of membrane. Are these due to hatch? Otherwise a whole piece of shell coming off prior to that would like be a bad egg anyways. If due, leave it alone, the chick is trying to hatch
I have so many blue chicks right now... keep finding out my white chickens are actually splashes heh.. or learning that my Silver Hmong bred to any blue based bird gives me only solid blue chicks... (lame)... so yup, trying to shake things up hehe
Not 100% sure if @cjwaldon checks this anymore even with the tag, but they had Isabel Leghorn and pack really well... They are also on FB too, if you check Rarebreed Sell/swap group...
There were several ppl who posted males on previous threads due to getting EGGS from MyPetChicken... I got straigh run chicks from Brinkhaven... I had culled any males because I can only have a male or two where I live, but one I have happens to be a Splash, so I was curious how these as splash...
Went to that site and bredas are not even on your list of Fowl, so no video where I can find either. It also says all eggs are $25/dz? So either the wrong site, or hasn’t been updated in a while?
Well I bought an expensive high lumen LED penlight for candling... it doesn’t produce much heat, is a focused beam and makes seeing into eggs easy. I can tell an egg is developing at 2 days now as long as it’s not a brown or thick shelled egg.
