I have never even been around ducks...how are their personalities compared to geese and chickens? I plan to only get females in whatever it is I get...I worry about drakes hurting my chickens that will also be free ranging with them. -

Ok...I was wanting crested pekin ducks...UNTIL I read about them...before that I just thought they were super cute and I like that they were larger ducks. Now I'm not so sure I should get crested. Is there another breed of ducks that is friendly...and large? They will be housed seperate from... -

I am thinking about getting a couple of crested pekin ducklings(female)and I was just curious as to what their temperments are? I have geese and chickens but I have never even been around ducks. Are they personable like my geese and chickens? Thanks! -

I will try and get some pictures tomorrow :) I will admit this is the most precious thing in the world watching them parent these babies :) They are nothing like chickens...they really take this parenting serious :) -

I have 2 sebastopol geese that were hatched in July...2 months ago I got 3 babies and it has turned my sweet loving older geese into something that rivals a pit bull! They are fine as long as we don't try to get near the babies...but look out if we do! Will they always be so protective of them... -

I got my new sebatopol babies 2 weeks ago. This week has been warm so I've started taking them outside some to introduce to my older ganders. One of my boys seemed really sweet and wanted them close....the other was not so sweet and hissed and bit one of the babies on their little back :( So... -
Where did the idea to use geese
as guard dogs come from? I am a member on several chicken list and geese list and people are always asking about using geese to guard their other flock. My geese are the biggest chickens ever!LOL They try and act tough as long as something isn't coming towards them...but if something comes... -

Thanks for the reply :) My boys are total sweethearts! They really want to Mother(or I guess Daddy?)my chickens...especially my Serama chickens!LOL Which want no part of having a goose daddy! If I could figure out how to share pictures I would show my boys...they are beautiful little pigs...
