Not really. I know that you don't breed a frizzle to a frizzle. And I know that only 50% of offspring exhibits frizzle.
I really just want to know how you get frizzle to begin with. Where did the very first frizzle come from? Obviously the frizzle gene came from somewhere. Is it a "deformity"?
Poop is no longer bloody after having Corid. Pushed the vent back in 3 times - twice with prep h. It hasn't come back out side last night. She is still pooping, eating and drinking. Acting totally fine but j am keeping a watch on her vent. Thanks guys :)
My "LOL" was aimed at myself for saying...
I have always kept mine in the brooder until fully feathered. My coops outside are all sand and we collect drift wood from the river (short ride on the side by side for us) for them to perch and play on. Of corse, there is no driftwood in the brooder lol. The brooder is a huge water trough.
I did start Corid yesterday and noticed the vent today. I didn't realize coccidia caused straining. If so then that's probably the culprit. All birds in the brooder were treated yesterday including this one. I poked it back in again. I will run and get some prep h
No, I don't have a big problem on my hands. These 4 week old chicks are in the brooder. My other birds are not as they are various ages up to 4 years old. And they are in several different coops and nobody is pecking her.
Backstory, I ordered 6 splash and 9 blue Cochins and 1 male EE from Cackle Hatchery back in April. ALL of the splash died. All but 4 of the blues died. The EE is fine. I eventually contacted the company because the blues were actually barred So they resent my order. Several of these birds had...
Bringing this thread back to life over 4 years later...
I have some 4 week old Cochins. One just had a protruding vent. The vet was not bloody but I could tell by the B feathers that previous stools had been bloody. Gave her a warm bath to clean her up and push it back in. She IS pooping. The...
15 chickens in the coop and this is the only odd poop. If not laying is an indicator of the culprit then I know who it is. She hasn't laid in two weeks and she's an Araucana so it's obvious when she lays.
Went out to the coop this morning and naturally the chickens have a favorite spot to poop. I noticed a worm. It was long, skinny and white. The thing is, it is alive with a head, eyes and all and is moving.
What the heck is it? I'm not sure if this came from the poop or if it's some type of...
Can anyone tell me how to make a frizzle? Basically, where did they come from and how do you get a purebred frizzle?
I'm not particularly looking into doing this, I just want to know how.
The reason is because I have a frizzle orphington roo. He is with a mixed flock, so no purebred chicks...
I have no desire to show any birds. My flock are my pets and just that. I just basically want to know HOW you get a frizzle to begin with. Not regulations on showing them. I mean, do you electrocute the eggs or what? I JUST KIDDING!
Like I said, I have a frizzle roo but he is in a mix of...
Oh I don't want to get anything recognized lol. I was just wondering where that gene comes from. I see people selling "purebred frizzle Cochins" for example and wondered how it was purebred if it had frizzle in it. I guess that's the best way to word my question...
I have a few questions about frizzles.
Basically how do you get them and be purebred? Where did they come from?
I have a frizzle orphington in what I call my misfit coop (mixed breeds). So I know those are all going to be "mutts". But how did my blue orphington get frizzled anyway?
This...
