Yeah I'm not a fan of trimmed beaks. But as far as breeds I've had both. And I've had RIRs and BR that I have loved and some that I have hated lol. The think I like about my BR is that the seem to be a better winter layer. But the RIR tend to lay more eggs overall. Like suggested earlier you...
Donrae has given you some good advice. I have used the rooster pen method and it works good but it all depends on the roosters. I had a pen of OEGB with 4 roosters and 5 hens and they all grew up together. Figured that I would separate as soon as they started to fight. They never did. They all...
scflock, I now agree. I spent pretty much all morning reading reviews. A lot of people love the 1588 and have had no problems with it but I have also read just as many reviews where the digital thermostat malfunctioned and the temp spiked to 108 and killed an entire incubator of eggs...
I like the looks and most of the reviews on the hovabator 1588 but I just read a thread on here that had many many many complaints about the thermostat reading being way off and then the temp severely spiking out of nowhere.
I did quite a bit of research yesterday and everyone that has the hovabatoras loves them. And I read a lot of horror stories on the little giant and some of the other ones. A little more expensive but sounds like it's worth it. is there any one place off the internet that is best to order from?
I'm on the market for a new table top incubator. I have the old little giant still air model and have hatched lots of chicks with it but it's finally going south. I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for brands or models of table top incubators that you have had good luck with or if...
I am looking to buy this book online and saw a few books by the title that had different front covers and different amounts of pages. One had a brown cover and was 132 pages and the other was white and had several different color stripes on it and had 162 pages. Is there a difference?
I have never had leghorns but have a friend who did and lay they will lol!! I don't have a problem with white eggs but unfortunately all the misinformed people assume all white eggs are bad lol.
I was thinking of going with brown dark brown and blue. I was also considering white but not sure. White eggs just don't sell well here, but they may if they were in a mix.
I am just curious and would like to ask those of you who sell eggs, do your customers seem to prefer a color of egg over others? And also do they prefer a mix or one uniform color?
Trefoil,
I just moved to my current location. I did have around 8 laying hens I sold to make the move easier. However, I do still have a couple trios of OEGBs and I have 2 dozen Barred Rock eggs in the bator set to hatch the day after Christmas which happens to be my birthday lol. I figure using...
I am finally finished with the new coop. It took my about 3 months. Just finished painting this week and just finished up the run. It's 12x8 and the run is 16x16. I am hoping to let them free range as much as I can unless I start losing birds. Nothing real fancy but the best thing I have had...
