    I second the vote for Ideal hatchery. It seems affordable to me and I've never lost 1 in shipment or for health reasons. I only buy from Ideal.

    We also do non gmo/organic. It is expensive! Thankfully we supplement with lots of greens. (We have a hookup with the local health food stores)

    I feel like I always have more broody hens than laying hens.:barnie Muscovies have to take the cake! If anyone wants to hatch eggs with a broody I highly recommend muscovies.

    My favorite egg layers that do well here are probably austrolorps. But that's partly because they're very friendly. Almost all my backyard girls are austrolorps.

    Have you exposed your old birds to the new ones? I'm so sorry you bought sick birds. I would be pretty upset. There are very few people I would trust to buy birds from because of reasons like this. I wish you lots of luck in dealing with everything.
