Woohoo! You've all made my day!
I compromised with hubby when we agreed that I would hatch my own chooks that we would turn the cockerals into roast dinners (as we are not allowed to keep roosters in our town) and I was so worried that the GLW was going to be a boy because it is just such a...
I just wanted to share my duck babies first splash .... casserole dish seemed the best available option, just the right size for a duck at a time and not too shallow/not too deep. I don't know who enjoyed it more - me watching them play or them doing the playing!
I'm pretty sure from looking through others posts that the leghorn is a girl and I will be thrilled if she is as she is my only leghorn that hatched. The wyandotte though I am really not sure about at all.
Ok, so here are some pictures ... it also seems that some of her tail feathers are coming through upside down too (a bit hard to tell in the picture and they are still quite short). The wing feathers that are curled are like that all the way down to the shaft, so it is not ordinary feathers that...

I just hatched 4 Indian Runners 5 weeks ago! - my first time hatching duck eggs and only my second time hatching any eggs at all, so I was very pleasantly suprised when I got a 100% hatch rate.
I have a new Hovabator which has an automatic turner and a fan in it to keep even temperature, it's...
Seriously? What's a sizzle??
I borrowed a friend's camera and took some pics but now waiting for her to find usb cable so that I can get them onto my computer. Will post them when I get that sorted (I should have enough posts to do that by then).
Noticed today that she has a few curled over...
Ok, thank you. It's only about 5 feathers on each wing so I guess just some random confused feathers. Will be interesting to see if they stay like that.
May be a silly question but ... Having a cuddle today with my Gold Laced Wyandotte 'chick', now about 7 weeks old and mostly got her (well, hopefully her) big-bird feathers, and I noticed that some of her wing feathers are kind of curly, they curl so that the underside of the feather faces up...
