    MALLARD THREAD...not rouens, Mallards!

:( I'm sorry you lost one too. I keep wondering what my darker one would look like now - or when it got older. I'm glad the one with the netting around its leg is feeling better. Now that I have ducks, I am much more conscious about what is laying around. I never liked a lot of debris hanging...

River Day and the Courage to Dive!

I'm really not sure. We suspect they are, or are some kind of hybrid. They followed us home from the river one day. They were just days old as far as I could tell! I have a video posted on this forum somewhere showing them coming up to us. So we adopted them. They had to have imprinted on humans...

River Day and the Courage to Dive!

Usually they follow me everywhere. When at the river though, I actually have to herd them back up the bank. Its not hard, and once we get to the top they just follow me right back to the house. I am thinking when they get older they may not be so inclined to follow me so easy.

River Day and the Courage to Dive!

Almost 9 weeks old. It was river day again. They were so excited and didn't even wait to follow me! They knew right were to go. The lighter billed one, Waddles, is the brave one. She swam the most and even dove under the water some. This is the first time they have really swam while...

    MALLARD THREAD...not rouens, Mallards!

Sorry. I never did reply to this. They were getting their feathers, just starting, at the time this was posted. I lost my dark one. :( I had to go to the ER one night and forgot all about putting them up before I left. By the time I got home, the dark one was gone, the pen door open, and the two...

Not able, or Not Interested. Flying Question.

I think they are 7 to 8 weeks old now. They are just now starting to get a tiny bit of a color patch on their wings. One quacks very loud. One --- kinda quacks but not really. I think I have read on other posts that mallards can fly by this age. These duckies will stand on their toes and flap...

    What Are We?

My ducklings will be about 7 weeks. I lost my dark one. I'm a bad duck mom. :( I had to rush to the ER one evening and forgot all about them outside. By the time I got back something had got in the pen and stole my dark colored one. I am posting a video. This is their first time walking...

    Ducklings Adopted Us

Here is the video of the ducklings following us down the river. I finally figured out how to upload it. At this point we had probably walked 25 feet or so from our swimming hole. They scrambled along the river and then climbed the bank. You can kinda see the river and bank behind them. It was...

So many typos in that post. I'm too lazy to fix them though. Lol.

    MALLARD THREAD...not rouens, Mallards!

The dark one is Crackers, the middle one is Waddles, and the bottom in Tubby. I think it is Waddles that is making a real quaking sound. It's hard to tell though because Waddles and Tubby always stand so close. No one around me had Ducks either. We are pretty far or into the county, but who...

    Growing up duckling questions

Thats - 25F. About - 32c. Thanks for all the info. Its amazing how fast they change from day to day. Today it looks like real feathers on their backs. They look rough. Lol I am pretty sure I heard one of the light brown ones make a deep quack sound almost.

    MALLARD THREAD...not rouens, Mallards!

That is the way my babies are. I have one dark and 2 lighter. We are unsure as to if they are true mallards since the mommy was never found. Some have suggested they are actually a hybrid. If you come up with any answers as to how you go the lighter colors, let me know!
